Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is a first-person shooter video game that was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision in 2011. It is the third installment in the Modern Warfare sub-series, serving as the sequel to 2009's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The game's campaign picks up right where Modern Warfare 2 left off, continuing the story of American forces fighting against Russian ultranationalists. Players control several characters during the single-player campaign, including returning characters such as Captain Price and "Soap" MacTavish. The campaign features missions in locations like New York, Paris, Berlin and Dubai.

Multiplayer was a major focus of Modern Warfare 3, with new features and improvements over past Call of Duty games. Despite this, it went on to become the fastest selling video game of all time up to that point, earning over $400 million on its first day alone.
