Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is a first-person shooter video game that was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision in 2011. It is the third installment in the Modern Warfare sub-series, serving as the sequel to 2009's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The game's campaign picks up right where Modern Warfare 2 left off, continuing the story of American forces fighting against Russian ultranationalists. Players control several characters during the single-player campaign, including returning characters such as Captain Price and "Soap" MacTavish. The campaign features missions in locations like New York, Paris, Berlin and Dubai.

Multiplayer was a major focus of Modern Warfare 3, with new features and improvements over past Call of Duty games. Some highlights include a new "Strike Package" killstreak reward system, new game modes like Kill Confirmed, and an expanded leveling system that goes up to Level 80. The game introduced a new "Specialist" strike package that allows players to choose specific perks over killstreak rewards.

Modern Warfare 3 also featured the return of the Spec Ops cooperative multiplayer mode. Players can team up for missions inspired by the campaign. The game also has a Survival mode where players fend off endless waves of enemies.

Upon release, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 received positive reviews, with critics praising its multiplayer gameplay and content offerings. Some criticisms included a lack of innovation in the single-player campaign and some balance issues with multiplayer. Despite this, it went on to become the fastest selling video game of all time up to that point, earning over $400 million on its first day alone.

The game was a massive commercial success, continuing the Call of Duty series' rise as one of the premier first-person shooter franchises in gaming. Although not as highly regarded as past Modern Warfare games, Modern Warfare 3 was still hugely popular with fans and extended the brand into new territory.
